Terms and conditions
Last updated 30 August 2026
Summary You book a lesson, you attend, and you pay before the lesson or when you receive the invoice. If you cancel at least 24 hours before, there is no charge. A group class needs at least three people. Lesson packages are valid for twelve months. I teach you English. I cannot promise you an exam result or a job.
1. Who you are contracting with
These terms apply to English teaching and coaching services provided by Lanaltx, 79 Ellados Avenue, Office 201, Pafos 8020, Cyprus, registered for VAT in the Republic of Cyprus under VAT number CY05503795H ("I", "me", "my"). Email: . By booking a lesson, a group place or a company programme, you agree to these terms.
2. Services
I provide one-to-one English lessons, small-group English classes, company training programmes, interview coaching, and written feedback on documents. Lessons are delivered online by video call, or in person in the Paphos area by arrangement.
3. Booking and payment
- Individuals pay before the lesson, or before the first lesson of a block, unless agreed otherwise.
- VAT is included in every price published on this website, for individuals and for companies. The invoice shows the VAT amount separately so that a company can reclaim it.
- Companies are invoiced monthly, payable within 30 days of the invoice date unless a different term is agreed in writing.
- Prices are as published on this website at the time of booking. Where VAT applies it is charged in addition and shown on the invoice.
- Payment may be made by bank transfer or any other method I confirm in writing.
4. Cancelling and rescheduling
- More than 24 hours' notice: the lesson is rescheduled or credited in full, no charge.
- Less than 24 hours' notice, or no attendance: the lesson is treated as taken and charged in full.
- If I cancel for any reason, the lesson is rescheduled or refunded in full, whichever you prefer.
- Illness, emergencies and genuinely unavoidable events are handled reasonably and case by case. Ask.
5. Your right to change your mind
If you are a consumer in the European Union and you book online, the law gives you fourteen days to change your mind and cancel, without giving a reason. The fourteen days start on the day you book.
- If your first lesson is after those fourteen days, you can cancel at any time before it and receive a full refund.
- If you want to start sooner than fourteen days, you are asking me to begin during the cancellation period. You can still cancel, but you pay for the lessons already taken. I will refund the rest.
- Once you have taken all the lessons you booked, the right to cancel has ended.
To cancel, please say so clearly. There is a cancellation form you can use, although you do not have to. I will confirm and refund within fourteen days, using the same method you paid with.
This does not apply to company clients, who are not consumers.
6. Lesson packages and credit
Lessons bought in blocks are valid for twelve months from the date of purchase. Unused lessons within that period can be used at any time or transferred to a group class at the equivalent value. Unused lessons are not refundable in cash except where required by law, but I will always tell you what credit you are holding.
7. Group classes
- Group classes run subject to a minimum of three participants. If a session cannot run, you are not charged for it and it does not count against your month.
- Monthly group fees cover the sessions scheduled in that month. Missing a session does not create a credit, because the class ran.
- Group places are personal and cannot be shared or transferred without agreement.
- I may move a participant to a more suitable group where the level is clearly wrong for the room. I will speak to you first.
8. Company programmes
Company programmes are quoted per programme, invoiced monthly in advance, and run on a rolling basis with a minimum term of one month. Either side may end the arrangement with 30 days' written notice. Where a programme includes a participant cap, additional participants may require a revised fee. Reporting provided to an employer covers attendance and progress only.
9. Books and e-books
I have published English learning books and e-books. These are sold through third-party retailers, not from this website. When you buy one, your contract is with that retailer, and their terms, delivery and refund rules apply, not mine. I do not receive your payment details.
The books remain my intellectual property. Buying one gives you the right to read and use it yourself. It does not give you the right to resell it, republish it, or use it to teach other people commercially without my written permission.
10. Where I teach
I teach online worldwide and in person in Cyprus, with one exception. I do not accept students located in the United States or Canada. This is a decision about where the service is offered, not about anybody personally. Please do not book if you are living in, or booking from, those countries.
If it becomes clear that a booking comes from one of those countries, I may cancel it and refund what you have paid. This does not remove any right you have that cannot lawfully be removed.
11. Conduct
Group classes only work if people can speak freely. Behaviour that is abusive, discriminatory, or that repeatedly prevents others from participating will result in removal from a class without refund. This has never happened and I do not expect it to.
12. Recordings
I do not record lessons unless we have agreed it in advance. You may not record a lesson, in whole or in part, without my consent and the consent of everyone else present.
13. Materials and copyright
Lesson materials, slides, briefs, vocabulary banks and written feedback are provided for your own personal learning or, for company clients, for the training of the named participants. They remain my intellectual property. They may not be resold, republished, or used to deliver teaching to others without my written permission.
14. Student pages and Lesson Studio
Lesson materials and progress records are delivered through Lesson Studio, a separate service operated by Lanaltx with its own terms of service and privacy policy. Some materials are AI-assisted and reviewed by me before use.
15. What I do not promise
Teaching improves readiness. It does not guarantee outcomes. No exam score, grade, pass, visa, job, promotion or business result is promised or guaranteed, and no refund is available on the basis that a result was not achieved. I am not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of IELTS, Cambridge, Pearson or any other examination board.
I am a language teacher. Nothing I provide is legal, immigration, financial, medical, employment or psychological advice, and it should not be relied on as such.
16. Liability
My total liability in connection with these services is limited to the fees you have paid for the services in question. I am not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost business, lost opportunity or lost profit. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
17. Technology
Online lessons need a working internet connection at both ends. If a lesson is lost to a failure on my side, it is rescheduled or refunded. If it is lost to a failure on yours, I will do what I reasonably can to make the time up, but I cannot guarantee it.
18. Events outside my control
If something happens that neither of us can control — illness, a power cut, a national emergency, a failure at an internet or software provider — lessons affected are rescheduled or credited. Neither of us is liable to the other for a delay caused by something of that kind.
19. Changes
I may update these terms. The version published here at the time of your booking is the one that applies to that booking. Price changes never apply to lessons already paid for.
20. Complaints
Please contact me. I will reply within five working days. If something has gone wrong I would far rather fix it than have you quietly leave.
21. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Cyprus, and the courts of Cyprus have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the EU, this does not remove any protection you have under the mandatory law of your own country.
